This is wicked cool (as they say up here): a Marvel comic by Neil Gaimain called 1602. This is a Dave comic meets a Tara comic; his favorite characters written by my favorite author. (Actually, my second favorite author. Neil recently was bumped out of the top spot by Chuck Palahniuk.) The story follows the same fantastically talented Marvel characters that we all know and love -- only 400 years ago.

You don't really have to know that these characters are versions of characters (like Daredevil, or the X-Men) who were meant to have turned up 400 years later, to enjoy the story.
