Finally Done

Jeez. Work has finally let me go from it's grasp, well not really. The last month between the holidays and work I haven't had a chance to post much at all. I just noticed that there was nothing on the main page of the site, and that is not good at all.
I am still at work, waiting to see if any more instrument orders come in, but I don't think I will see anymore come in. It is the end of the fiscal year and everyone has been pumping orders and requests in like it is going out of style.
I am hoping that the next few weeks start to return to a normal pace. My family is visiting this weekend. I am hoping that we have a good time with them. Now I just have to figure out how I am getting home.

Harry Potter Book Clues

Ok, all you psychotic Harry Potter fans, here's a little more info that you may not have heard about.

**Ok, read the whole stinking article that I am linking here before commenting**

Collector buys clues to 5th 'Potter' book

Apparently J.K. Rowling put up a card with 93 words on it, giving clues about "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" for auction, to help raise money for poor children to receive books. The bidding was intense, and in the end the lucky winner paid more than $45,000 for an index card. Now a Harry Potter website operated by Leaky Inc. one of the competing bidders is asking the winner to share this information with the world via the web.

Wait a second. If I just paid 45k for something, am I going to just give it away? No way! I can totally appreciate the fact that the person has not yet released it, and I hope then never do.

For everyone who disagrees with me, Sotheby's released a few words of what was on the card.

"Ron ... broom ... sacked ... house-elf ... new ... teacher ... dies ... sorry"

Hope that satisfies you for now.

Weird People

I am stuck home again today with two ear infections that are making me feel miserable, but obviously I am still able to come online. My various Harry Potter 5th Book posts seen here, here and here have received ridiculous amounts of comments. So, when I checked my email this morning and saw a few more comments in there, I assumed that they were all for those posts. Instead some guy posted a comment to this post from September of 2001 where I discussed how we came up with Trevors name.

We had picked his name partly because there was an inventor that we liked who was named Trevor, and after hearing about him we thought it was a nice name. This guy who posted must have been severly confused because he commented as if he were submitting invention ideas to us or something. Here is his comment. The full post can be seen here. Strange Fellow.

Hi my name Mr Geoffrey Woods age 59 years old and I am Dyslexic, but I
have some ideas that I think might work,

Many thanks for taking the time to read my Ideas.

Ideas

A hat for some one who is an Epileptic, when the person who is wearing
this hat and has a fit, a bleeding noise will sound and then you will
know that the person has fallen down and need your help?

An idea for keeping your boat cleaner and stopping the birds from
crapping on it? A prissier mat for ducks and sea gulls and if they stand on
it would i.e. make a noise or a light could flash on and off. It all
could be done on a 6 volt batty.

A foot ball rattle that when you spin it shouts out your team name out.

A idea for your push bike at night, something’s put on your spokes that
will slide up and down when your wheel goes around and it could light
up so you can be seen at night,

If you have got a cat or dog this is for you, a microwave put under
your hover so when you do your house cleaning it will kill all flee and
bugs in the carpet and it could clean your bed from flees and bugs also.

An arm rest that could fit round your wrist with Velcro to fit your
wrist, so when you are on your computer you do not get a bad wrist.

T V Show or web-site, Look what I can do? It is for people who can do
any thing they think that you can not do???

I.e. take your eye out or bend your arm around your back or any silly
thing that people would and could do just to get two minuets of fame.

Cleaning your hands when you have been to the toilet? Only 54% of man
clean there hands when they have used the toilet, when one washes there
hands after going to the toilet you dry your hands on a hand dryer, (
hot hair from and hand dryer )

So one could put something in side the hand dryer that could put out
some disinfection when one is drying there hands.

This is for someone who is on a train and might full asleep, it could
be your phone or a kind of pen that let you know when you have got to
your station, (e i) you could put in on your phone the name of the
station and it would ring when you got to your station,

Ok, that was interesting. Dyslexic? Maybe a few other things too. Ok,ok Tara now I am going to sleep. Later.

Spontaneous Santa

trev_santa_sm.gif

I wore my kid out Christmas shopping tonight. As we passed Santa's little fiberglass wonderland, Trev dragged me over to the holiday propaganda.

"Mommy, we have to go see Santa! He's right there and the line is really, really short! I have to talk to him!"

How could I resist? He wasn't dressed up, but at least he was wearing a Christmas ornament shirt. He and Santa whispered to each other for a good five minutes and I heard the words "bike", "two big wheels" and "action figure". Santa nodded solemnly and I took out my list to add bike back to the bottom. It's hard to keep up with the whims of a preschooler.

Santa's Hostile Minions of Doom insist that you buy a picture to even speak to Santa. So I got just a digital version on disk. Everyone was incredulous: "Just the disk? Are you sure?" One woman said, "What can you do with that?"

Uh... crop it, print it, email it, post it on my weblog, make it brighter, darker, fuzzy, black and white or edit Santa to be Osama bin Laden.

What can you do with your little paper picture?

Busy Week

This week is shaping up to be really busy. I worked last night at the bookstore and was roped into working tonight in the music department. I am also working Wednesday night and Friday night. I swapped for Friday so I could be off Saturday night, Adam had an extra ticket to see Tom Petty at the Fleet Center. While I am not seeing Tara and Trevor a whole lot this week, Tom Petty is a show that would be hard to pass up. My hope is that I am not scheduled to work on Sunday, so that I can be home with them and chill out.

Things have been very quiet here at Liloia.com for the last few weeks. Tara has been spending a lot of time at home in the evenings working on some personal projects that she has always wanted to focus on. I really admire the time and dedication she has had so far in working on these things. Every night she does at least something to keep her momentum going.

I think that over the next few weeks, we may post less frequently as we are going to be busy with getting ready for the holidays. I am hoping that I can keep up here, but if the amount I have to work at the bookstore this week is any indication of the next few weeks, I may not see y'all again until after New Years. It's actually getting better to work there though. I am rarely working behind the register anymore, which can feel kind of demeaning at times. I have been spending almost 100% of my shifts at the information booth helping people find the books they are looking for. It is much more satisfying to be able to provide that level of service and it is much more akin to my interests.

Later. :)

Snaggletooth

Wednesday morning on the way to work I accidentally knocked out part of my front left tooth. This tooth had originally broken when I was about 10 while riding my bike. I was going down a hill pretty fast when my bike's front wheel got caught on a rock and I went head first over the handlebars. My face grabbed some ground as the rest of my body slid behind it, I was sure that I was dead. After a minute or so, I realized that I might live through this, and I got up to assess the damage. I was bloody and chewed up at every joint and limb. Quickly, I realized that I had also knocked out part of my front left tooth. Being very young scared, and away from a mirror it felt to me like there was a gigantic piece missing from my tooth. I rode home on my now wobbly bike and found my mother doing laundry. She took one look at me and hugged me tightly as I sobbed and told her what had happened.
Being a dental hygienist, she stayed cool and looked at my tooth.
“It will be fine”, she said “ the office can fix that right up for you, no worries.”

I was still upset and she saw that when she said, “Do you know what we need?”

“No.” I sniffled.

“Ice Cream!” she said with a big smile.

Thinking only about my pain and fear, I stopped crying immediately because her statement surprised me. We both started laughing hysterically because the allure of ice cream was able to relieve my pain so quickly.

Since then the replacement tooth has popped off about 10 or 11 times. This time it was while trying to put on my glove using one hand and holding my coffee in the other. I didn’t pull that hard on it so I think that it was ready to go anyhow.

Star Trek Spoiler

** There are no spoilers in this post **

Last night I was talking to a friend of mine, let's call him Joe. Oh wait, that is his name. Anyway, he had read the screenplay for the new Star Trek Movie - Star Trek: Nemesis recently. The movie does not come out for another 2 weeks, and I asked him one, non plot revealing question about the movie. I also asked him not to tell me anything else.

Instead of answering my very simple question, he decided to reveal a HUGE aspect of the plot and told me how the movie ended. I was floored! I couldn't believe how rude he was. He knew that I was a big Star Trek fan, and that I was looking forward to seeing the movie in a few weeks. Ugh! I am so mad at this guy, but I don't know how to react to this. Now my experience of going to the movie RUINED! What a tool.

Christmas Pictures

Yesterday we took Trevor to get his annual Christmas pictures done. Trevor as always is highly photogenic and takes instruction so well that you would think he is a pro. Here is our favorite one in this batch.

For the entire set, go to our Christmas Album for this year.

Happy Birthday Tara

Today is Tara's 28th birthday!! So far we have had a quiet morning, giving her some presents and cards, watching the Discovery Channel and playing online. In a few minutes we are headed out to the Burlington Mall. We are going to get Trevor's picture taken, do some shopping and then head over to the Macaroni Grill for dinner. Hopefully today is living up to Tara's hope for her birthday. I know that she likes to have quiet days where she is able to just chill out, so I think we have this covered.

Happy Birthday sweetie!
