Happy Birthday

Today I am wishing a happy birthday to our little brother Sean. He is 18 years old today. (Now you could get that monkey tattoo.) Hope all your birthday wishes come true and your day is super. Happy Birthday, Sean!

Okay Dave, You Win

I have received several complaints over time from my brother in law about my resistance of using paragraphs. He says my entries may cause him to need glasses. So, I will write a blog consisting of more than one "distinct division of written or printed matter that begins on a new, usually indented line, consists of one or more sentences, and typically deals with a single thought or topic or quotes one speakers continuous words."

Unfortunately, I can not fulfill the option of indenting because when I press the tab key, my cursor disappears. I suppose that I could press the space bar a few times like so but I don't have that kind of time. I am supposed to be working.

I hope that due to my careless use of grammar, Dave is not caused to need glasses. I happen to be person who wears glasses and you have to be hard core to do so. Since ten years of age, I have been wearing glasses. They give you headaches, they are heavy, you get this awful mark on your face that everyone seems to point out when you take them off. In addition, kids can be so cruel. My glasses have been stolen off my face and licked by bullies and on one occasion, there was an attempt made to flush them. Also, when you fall asleep with them on your face, they become mishapen and you look dorkier wearing crooked/poorly repaired glasses and you have a worse mark on your face that people point out.

Getting contact lenses was probably the highlight of my teen life. Not only did I feel a smidgen less geeky, but for the first time I could see what I have been missing. The only drawback to lenses is that when you are used to falling asleep with glasses and dealing with the mark on your face, you may not think about falling asleep with your contact lenses so much. That hurts really, really badly.

To digress for a moment, it was mentioned that I complain about people's poor use of grammar. This is true. Although I do not know everything about proper grammar, I do feel that I have every right to be disappointed. It's called pride. Don't bother saying or documenting something unless you are willing to put your name on it. Yes, we all do tend to stray from speaking or writing properly when we are quickly trying to put our thoughts together, but a little thought is nice. A job was offered to Bryan by a professional asking "Is you interested at all?"

I appreciate that my hypocrisy was pointed to me and I hope my use of paragraphs was proof enough that I am capable of my effort to fix that. Sure, all of my grammar is not perfect, but I err because I live. I do believe that I have met the requirements of Webster's definition of paragraph. Single thoughts elaborated, one or more sentences, and of course the option to indent.

I am going back to work now.

Ozzfest, a Personal Experience

This year's Ozzfest was really great. Aside from the horrible sunburn we are suffering, Bryan and Sean in particular, we had a wonderful time. This was the stage list. My personal favorite other than Ozzy of course, was Rob Zombie and System of a Down. Awesome live bands. Second stage artist Hatebreed and Meshuggah were great. Unfortunately, we missed one of our favorites Ill Nino, we were still barbecueing in the parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised to see amongst the stands on the side included Anti Racist Action and Greenpeace. They were both very enjoyable and informative to talk to. I was disappointed to see how much "legalize it" paraphanelia was being bought and sold. Who knows whom is to blame, washed up hippies living in the past or "those kids today," (my bet's with the kids influenced by the dumb hippies. I guess that makes me old and cranky, but that's another story.) Ozzy was awesome. I love when he plays older tunes. It was nice to hear him announce that his wife Sharon is alright from the operation and that she said she is kicking the cancer's bum. Our overall experience this year was far superior to last year's experience. This year included such highlights as seeing Rob Zombie sitting on his trailor drinking beer, Surge from System of a Down about 10 feet away from us, and the Ill Nino members riding bikes and greeting fans over the very fence against which we leaned.
P.S. Water costs 3.50$, Snapple costs 4.50$ and pizza costs 6.00$ a slice.

Promoting What

Pepsi's slogan these days is "Think Young, Drink Young."
Did any thought go into choosing this slogan?
Probably some inspiration from Britney Spears gave rise to the subliminal message here. Look innocent.

Three, Four Times a Week

Last night in our visit to Target, we discovered exactly how famous we are.
The manager of the store said,"Hey, you guys are in here a lot!"

Yes, it is true. We shop at Target pretty often because we rely on the fact that everything short of a pony can be found there. And everyone is so nice. A far cry from Walmart's "Yes, the iron went on fire, but you did have it for five months so we cannot return it because I don't know if it is on sale this week."

Is it so wrong to like nice stuff, convenience and good service? Do we have to attend Targaholics Anonymous meetings?

Homer's Gun on Market

I have noticed lately lots of women have overdone, very poorly applied makeup decorating their faces. To be clear, Mimi of Drew Carey is not an example. Mimi uses a great deal of makeup but it is neatly applied to her face. The women I have seen recentlywalking around look like when Homer Simpson invented the makeup gun and which shot huge globs of makeup on the woman's face. ("Women won't like getting shot in the face." "Women will like what I tell them to like.")
Well, I was wondering if I was out of the loop here. Is this the new "in" way to apply your makeup? Did I miss something? If the haphazard style is cool now, I regret to inform you that I was doing this look when I was five. I got in trouble for it too, sent to my room to be exact. I am so trendy and rebellious.

Our Anniversary Vacation

Bryan and I are celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. In honor of our very special day, we decided to spend a weekend away. The hotel, which shall remain nameless, had broken furniture, lost our reservations, had no idea what the package I reserved contained, had the worst restaraunt in the world, and was pretty creepy. Pretty surprising from a major named hotel chain. The highlight of this vacation part #1 is going to Target.
Our determination for a great vacation was fierce....
The next day we decided to go to the Camden Aquarium. (We skipped the included breakfast.) Absolutely wonderful. It was redesigned with an outdoor garden, a train ride for kids, butterfly house, and Alice in Wonderland themes. Inside, we saw a shark show and all the most wonderful fish "habitats." I touched a baby shark!
The best part of our vacation is saved for last because it is the last part. Bryan said that we are not going home until our vacation is great. So, spur of the moment, we were on our way to Washington D.C.!
See what I mean, not giving up!
Our spontaneous vacation part #2 was so cool!!!!! By the time we arrived in D.C., it was about 8:00pm so it was getting dark. We found a Marriot Courtyard hotel and checked into it without reservations. This hotel was classy, clean, excellent quality, and cost half as much as the Hell Hotel. We saw the Capital, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Viet Nam War Memorial, and Washington Memorial. We could not get close enough to the White House to see more than a few inches. Views at night were so beautiful, all the lights and the reflecting pools. We returned back to the hotel at about 11:00pm. The city was still very much alive.
Our photos came out pretty good. Everything was so perfect. We are definately coming back here soon. Bryan and I returned on Monday super early in the morning. On the way home, we figured that if we did not shop so much at Target, we could afford a small vacation like this every other month to somewhere different. Next vacation possibly back to Washington and in mid October to Salem. We always have a great time together. Thank you for taking us to all these wonderful places, Bryan. I loved sharing them with you. I had the best time because you were there.
I always love being married to you. Happy Anniversary. I love you.
